I have updated our ‘numbers’ page today with some simple ideas for exploring numbers using objects found around the house. This page is located within the “Idea of the Day” tab at the top of the page and will be an ongoing source of ideas under subject headings.
One of our favourite ideas is using our much love Lego (or Duplo in this case) for exploring multiplication. You could write ANYTHING on the Lego…and YES it comes off! Simply use a permanent marker (I love Sharpies) and wipe clean with a Magic Eraser. BRILLIANT!
In addition to multiplication you could use it for:
- Sequencing numbers, number patterns, skip counting etc
- The alphabet
- Exploring blends
- Learning frequently used words
- Sentence structure (use a different colour block for verbs, nouns, adjectives etc)
- MUCh much more…anything you can fit on a brick!
